Funds would address 'additional costs' in 25/26 financial year
Up to a further £2.5million of funding is being requested to cover 'forecast additional costs' of the Isle of Man's non-urgent patient air transfer service.
That's according to Health and Social Care Minister, Claire Christian in a written Tynwald response published this week.
The financial support has been sought 'initially as a one-off' to address expected extra costs forecast for the 2025/26 financial year.
Ms Christian adds the recurring finances involved for the service 'will be addressed either as part of future budget cycles or may yet be mitigated through any longer-term approach to securing strategic air connectivity more broadly.'
Discussions on both potential routes are ongoing with clarity expected before the end of 2025.
At the time of writing the response, the minister also comments the outcome of this funding request is awaited.
