
Police Inspector Mark Britton has made a statement to media on the major operation to bring the fire at Mount Murray Hotel under control.
All three emergency services have been at the scene in large numbers led by senior officers.
The turnout included three aeriel ladder platforms and fire tenders from the airport. Ambulance crews and Noble's Hospital were put on standby but the Department of Health says only one casualty with minor injuries has needed treatment.
