Isle of Man Constabulary received over 230 weapons
The Isle of Man Constabulary has confirmed two Uzi submachine guns and a ninja star were among weapons handed in during a recent amnesty.
In total, 150 firearms were received by officers; among them a deactivated AK47, two Uzi submachine guns, a double-barrelled shotgun, air rifles pistols and cross-bows.
Other weapons were surrendered including 84 bladed articles, such as swords, a Rambo knife, daggers and standard knives.
More than 500 rounds of ammunition were also handed over to officers.
Clear increase
The Constabulary says the results of the 2026 amnesty - which ran between 13 January and 2 February - show a clear increase in items surrendered compared with previous years:
2026: 150 firearms & 84 bladed articles
2023: 112 firearms & 73 knives
2019: 53 firearms
Why an amnesty?
Inspector Elliot Butler who oversees the Tactical Firearms Unit says: 'The Isle of Man remains the 3rd safest place to live in the world but is not immune from serious and organised crime / incidents involving weapons.
'To ensure the Isle of man remains the 3rd safest place in the world, if not one day the 1st, the Isle of Man Constabulary will leave no stone unturned in tackling the risk of serious and organised crime and offending involving weapons.'
