Trip to Tower of Refuge this evening
A well-known writer and broadcaster will have his Christmas wish realised this evening (15 June).
Writing in Manx Tails last year, Terry Cringle revealed he'd like to visit the Tower of Refuge.
The veteran journalist has fond memories of visiting the iconic structure in Douglas Bay with his uncles as a boy, and with his own children and grandchildren in later life.
And tonight, with the help of Douglas Borough Council and the Isle of Man Coastguard, Terry will be transported from his home to the tower on Conister Rock at low tide.
Terry says the tower has always been part of his life.
