Woman admits netting over £800,000

A Douglas woman has admitted her role in a swindle which conned victims out of more than £800,000.

Fifty-five-year-old Zarnie Abenojar Khan pleaded guilty to 12 charges at Douglas Courthouse including fraud, concealing criminal property and acquiring criminal property.

During an appearance before the Court of General Gaol Delivery Khan admitted reeling in victims using a fake company called 'Goodwill Fish Processing'.

Prosecutor James Robinson told the court the offences happened between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023 and Khan had netted around £830,000.

Khan also pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery, witness intimidation and an act against public justice.

Mr Robinson said the prosecution would not be pursuing those and they would be dropped.

Khan was granted bail pending the outcome of proceedings against her co-accused and is next due to appear later this month.
