Item to go on display at the Manx Museum
A small piece of Viking Age silver goes on display at the Manx Museum from Saturday.
It was declared treasure by Coroner of Inquests Jayne Hughes at a hearing in Douglas on Friday.
The ingot - dated to between 950 and 1075 AD - was discovered in a field in the south of the Island by metal detectorist Lee Morgan in September.
Manx National Heritage Curator of Archaeology Allison Fox says ingots like this were used in the Viking world for trade, like a cross-border currency.
She adds that it helps to illustrate how the Isle of Man was a part of the international Viking trade network 1,000 years ago.
