Longboats return for 2018
Around 700 rowers will take to the western seas today, in the hopes of reaching oar-some speeds of five to ten knots.
The World Championship Viking Longboat Race is all set to take place in Peel today (30 June).
Sponsors for the event, Royal London 360, will donate £500 pounds to winners' chosen charity, £250 for the runners up and £100 for third placed.
'Young Vikings Again', with an average age of 59 (apologies, Pugwash! -- Ed.), will be hoping to hold onto their title as champion rowers in the Mens category.
It's the same for the defenders of the Women's the RL360s 'Young Farmers Netball Team', with 'Minions' the ones to beat in the mixed category.
