Village is getting its pub back

The Colby Glen closed suddenly earlier this year

A village in the south is getting its local back, with the Colby Glen pub set to reopen next month under new management. 

The pub had been operated by different tenants until it closed suddenly back in January. 

Owned by Heron & Brearley, it's currently undergoing an internal refresh, with new decor and a revamped menu hoping to highlight local produce.

It's being taken on by new manager Wayne Ashton.

Heron & Bearley’s Andy McCulloch has been speaking to Sam Turton:

Andy says the focus is on turning the Colby Glen into a genuine village hub once again welcoming in sports teams, community groups, locals and people wanting somewhere to head out to dinner. 

He believes the new partnership model which the pub will operate under allows operators like Wayne to put their own stamp on the place while still benefiting from the brewery’s support.

Andy says: "It's going to be fresh local pub food during the week, and there's going to be a great specials board and offer that Wayne's creating at the moment, and then we're going to do a great Sunday carvery as well."

He added: "We want to use people's personalities in the pubs and their own experience and to really drive the business forward and it just gives them the freedom to be creative, especially around the menus, to give the local community what they want and use the best of local ingredients as well."
