A gymnastics coach is reportedly on hunger strike at the Island’s prison in Jurby, less than a week after being jailed for nine months, at appeal, for indecent assault.
Sixty-two year-old Harold Volante of Cooil Close, Douglas was convicted on four counts.
He had initially received a 12 month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
It’s understood Volante has refused meals since being sent to prison.
A spokesman for the Department of Home Affairs confirmed he was being monitored, was taking on fluids and there was no immediate cause for concern about his condition.
