Life returns to MARS
A well-known voluntary resignation scheme is being brought back into use as the Department of Health continues to try and trim its budget costs by around £10 million.
MARS - or the Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme - was last used around five years ago, but is now being offered to some grades of management within the health service.
Minister Kate Beecroft says anyone can apply for it - but the department has the choice of whether to accept the applications.
Speaking on Mandate this morning she said a major review to idenfity possible cost savings was underway.
