A greater role for the third sector has been signalled by the news many more elderly people in the Isle of Man will in future spend old age living in their own homes.
Glenside residential home in Douglas is to close in 2014 as part of a reorganisation of adult social care, which aims to save £3 million over the next four years.
More care services are being promised for older people at home, tailored to their needs.
Earlier this week, Social Care minister Chris Robertshaw said, with the right help, more elderly people could live independently.
