The volunteering ethos is "alive and well" in the Isle of Man.
That's according to Carol Best, one of more than 100 people who gives her time for free at Noble's Hospital.
The next few days are about rewarding and recognising the army of individuals who help keep services at the hospital running smoothly.
Volunteer's week is in its ninth year, and over the week helpers will be treated to musical recitals, neck and shoulder massages and a celebratory tea.
But the initiative is also about recruiting new volunteers. Mrs Best believes even in the current harsh economic climate people want to do their bit.
