Median weekly pay surpassed by cost of living
Wage growth fell below inflation in the year up to last June, it's been revealed.
But the average Manx worker still earns 1.4% more than their UK equivalent.
Published today, the Cabinet Office's Annual Earnings Survey compiles pay data from a cross-section of income tax records.
The median weekly wage for Manx workers is now £558, a 3.9% rise on the year before - but still marginally below the 4% rise in the cost of living for those twelve months.
We now also know around one in seven (14%) of us still earns below the Living Wage rate of £8.61 - and 5% are on (or below) the legal upper minimum wage.
Research also shows gender disparity is still a problem among top earners, with 8% fewer females than males earning higher than the average.
