Lizzy Crotty will be heading to Antarctica as part of STEM initiative
Two women have embarked on a six-day hike around the full Raad ny Foillan walk to raise funds for a women's leadership programme.
Lizzy Crotty and her Mum, Dr Janine Crotty, hail from Hobart in Tasmania, but Lizzy currently works in London as Head of Development for Australian Wildlife Conservancy UK.
The Homeward Bound programme is an initiative aimed at elevating women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, into leadership roles.
As part of the initiative, she'll be heading to Antarctica to put the skills she's learnt over the past 12 months to the ultimate test.
The total cost of the voyage is around £13,000 which includes her time in Antartica, the flights, insurance and equipment she'll need when she's there.
She's therefore undertaking the Manx walking challenge as part of her goal to raise £6,000 to help her on her way to that total.
Lizzy told Simon Richardson the Isle of Man was chosen for the fundraiser because it has a special connection to her grandfather.
