
Onchan Commissioners are counting the cost after the village’s war memorial was damaged earlier this week.
The local authority says its memorial, which had undergone significant work to make it ready for the hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of World War One just under a fortnight ago, was damaged by skateboarders or scooter riders.
The board is now trying to find out how much it'll cost and how long it will take to repair the damage.
Board member Rob Callister says it’s a real pity given the central role the memorial will play in coming commemorations:
