Clarion call for public-spirited people
There's an opening for members of the Manx public with a keen interest both in the armed forces, and serving their community.
Fresh faces are needed on the government's war pensions committee, and the search is on for public-spirited people who can contribute.
The committee was set up in 1916 at the height of the First World War; charged with overseeing the payment of pensions to injured veterans and widows, it was the first in the British Isles.
It now also offers support and welfare services to Island veterans who've served in more recent conflicts, from Northern Ireland, the Falklands and Bosnia, to Afghanistan and Iraq.
Applicants must show they have the time, interest and commitment to join the committee - and are honest, objective and accountable.
The deadline for applications, which should be made through the Cabinet Office, is Wednesday 24 May.
