Bomb disposal expert speaks at Quilliam Lecture
The wartime exploits of the Royal Navy’s most decorated bomb disposal expert will be explored at a special talk at Arbory Church this week (October 19).
Commander Bernard Thompson, chief of staff at the naval regional headquarters for the north-west and the Isle of Man, will deliver the Autumn Quilliam Lecture
The lecture series was established to mark Arbory’s links to the navy through Captain John Quilliam, who helped steer the Nelson’s flagship Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.
One of the church wardens, Phil Smith, says there are a few places remaining for Thursday night’s event and is promising a surprise.
Tickets can be secured by calling 495146. You’re also advised to arrive early as parking is at a premium due to road works in the village.
