71% of waste recycled currently
The Western Civic Amenity Site is reaching its recycling limit according to the manager of the centre.
Over the past six months 71 per cent of waste processed at the site has been recycled.
Mike Rose says this saves ratepayers in the west around £10,000 a month by diverting rubbish away from the incinerator and landfill, thus reducing costs for local authorities.
The manager thinks the site may be starting to hit the limit in terms of the amount of recyclable waste the public are prepared to bring to the centre.
