The Manx Development Corporation wants to regenerate Westmoreland Road and Demesne Road
Plans to build 133 new homes in Douglas are being recommended for approval.
Apartments, townhouses, small blocks of flats and a senior living block make up the dwellings.
Additionally, a new scout hut or community pavilion - first floated by the chief minister in July 2022 - will be built, and is expected to use solar and heat pump technology.
Crookall House will be refurbished and extended to be used as office space.
The existing sub-station and associated external landscaping, highways and drainage works will be replaced.
It will be known as ‘Westmoreland Village’ with the idea being that residents’ everyday needs can be met locally within a 10-minute journey.
It also claims it will reduce traffic and enable shops and businesses to ‘thrive’ as well as allowing people to ‘see more of their neighbours’ thereby ‘strengthening community bonds’.
The final decision will be made when the Planning Committee meets on Monday next week.
