Former roads policing chief wants gov't action
"We've declared a climate emergency. Well, you know what? We've got a roads safety emergency."
That's the view of a former head of roads policing on the Isle of Man, Derek Flint.
He was speaking to Manx Radio after the news you're twice as likely to be killed or suffer a serious injury as a result of a crash here on the Island, compared to England.
That's according to figures released by Public Health Isle of Man.
Mr Flint wants to see a cross-departmental approach to reversing that statistic, as a matter of urgency:
