There's a need to go against natural instincts

Advice has been issued for anyone whose pet goes missing.

It follows two recent successful searches for missing dogs Elvis and Suzie.

The efforts to find both animals were coordinated by Karen Quayle.

She says when dogs go missing, it's important to go against your natural instinct to chase and shout it to come back:

The main advice is to remain calm and avoid chasing after them.

Instead, you should try to lure your dog back using familiar scents and a calm voice, while making yourself appear less threatening.

Karen says a group called Noodle's Canine Rescue is in the process of being set up to help dog owners who lose their pets in future on the Island.

Noodle's owner helps with search and rescue on the Island and she's being trained to look for dogs.

There's also a fundraiser to go towards buying a thermal drone to help with future pet searches.
