A banker who is threatening to expose tax-dodging in Switzerland through the WikiLeaks website spent time on the Isle of Man, it has been revealed.
Prosecutors in Zurich say Rudolf Elmer stole client data after being fired from a Cayman Island bank in 2002.
He has now handed over details of 2,000 bank accounts to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, to be published on the website.
But as 55-year-old Mr Elmer stands trial, more details are emerging about his movements after he allegedly took the data.
Prosecutors claim Mr Elmer was sacked from the Cayman Islands branch of Swiss bank Julius Baer and tried to extort money from the company's senior executives.
They are calling for an eight-month sentence and a fine for what the bank calls a vendetta by a disgruntled employee.
The Zurich administrative court heard Mr Elmer was fired in 2002 and spent the next few years travelling.
The court was told he went to the Isle of Man, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Mauritius.
