The 56th anniversary of an air disaster which claimed the lives of 35 Island residents will be marked today.
A service is being held in St John's Church at 10.30am to mark the Winter Hill air crash.

On the morning of February 27 1958 a plane carrying 42 people set off from Ronaldsway Airport.
Those on board were a party of local motor traders and their colleagues, who were heading to Manchester to visit a factory and car show.
But the plane never made it, crashing into Winter Hill in Lancashire in poor conditions.
Just seven of those on board survived.
Today's service will remember those who died, while also giving thanks to the residents of nearby Horwich, who did so much to help rescue the survivors, and provide comfort and support in the aftermath.
