Courthouse appearance after Sam Webb's altercation
A court’s heard how a woman threw a pool ball at a man who made lewd comments and obscene gestures at her in a pub.
Katie Michelle Smith, of Sumark Avenue in Anagh Coar, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse this week.
The court heard the 28-year-old was out with friends in Sam Webb’s in Douglas on 4 November, when a man at the bar began making the comments.
She lunged at him, picking up the ball from the pool table and throwing it – but it missed and hit a wall.
Defence advocate Jim Travers said there’d been a significant amount of provocation and his client had never been in trouble before.
Smith was bound over to keep the peace for a year in the sum of £500.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon offered no evidence on a charge of disorderly behaviour on licensed premises, which was withdrawn and dismissed.
