Denies refusing a breath test
A Garff woman who drove around a police officer trying to stop her car has denied refusing a breath test.
Jane Anne-Marie Sykes admitted failing to stop her vehicle for a police officer, when she appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.
The court heard the 42-year-old, of Baldrine Road, was spotted acting erratically in Tesco’s car park in Douglas on the evening of 18 August.
But when police tried to talk to her, she drove out of the car park past an officer in the middle of the road, followed by a police vehicle with sirens and flashing lights.
The court heard Sykes drove along Lake Road, North Quay and Lord Street and only pulled over when she reached Douglas Town Hall on Ridgeway Street.
Officers said she was unsteady on her feet and smelled of alcohol but refused to give a breath test at the roadside and at police headquarters.
Her advocate Steve Wood requested a psychiatric report and Miss Hughes bailed Sykes and adjourned the case until Tuesday, 1 November.
