President speaks ahead of Tynwald Day
The work of Tynwald members doesn't stop during the summer recess of parliament - that's according to President of the Court, Steve Rodan.
He says despite the break in formal sittings, government, committee and parliamentary activity continues throughout this period.
The recess starts after the last sitting of Tynwald at the end of July, and finishes in October when the Court reconvenes.
Mr Rodan says this has its roots in the patterns of rural life, with the autumn set aside to provide help in the harvest.
The President told Manx Radio the break is not a three month-long summer holiday:
