DEFA insists updating legislation remains a top priority
Work to update laws protecting animals on the Island has resumed following delays due to Brexit.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture had to put its Animal Welfare Bill on hold in order to prepare for the UK's withdrawal from the European Union.
Minister Geoffrey Boot has now asked officers to prepare a framework Bill, that will be considered by the department next month.
DEFA says it's aware of the public and political interest in these changes, and insists the Bill remains a top priority for the department.
