Council's housing chair warns political attitudes to housing are outdated
The promise that if you work hard enough you'll be able to afford to buy a home is no longer available to many residents on the Island.
That's from Douglas City Council's Chair of Housing Peter Washington.
Councillor Washington, who is a social housing tenant, told Manx Radio that while younger residents face challenges getting onto the property ladder, older residents are facing similar issues.
He believes political attitudes to housing are outdated:
