Flap gate repairs and tower maintenance to take eight weeks
Repair work to the Millennium Bridge in Douglas gets underway later today.
The harbour flap gate, which retains water in the inner harbour, has to be removed to undergo repairs, while maintenance will also be carried out to the bridge towers.
As a result, the bridge will be shut to road and vessel traffic between midnight and 6am for the next two nights.
Further closures will take place in the coming weeks, while no vessels will be able to enter or exit the inner harbour between 27 September and 13 October, once the gate has been removed.
