'Strongest Swiss-system tournament in the history of chess' say organisers
The greatest chess player of all time has confirmed he will be returning to the Island to compete this year.
World Champion Magnus Carlsen has entered the 2019 FIDE chess.com Isle of Man International, which will be held at the Villa Marina in October.
Carlsen last entered the competition in 2017, and went on to win.
The total prize fund is estimated at $432,500 with a first prize of $70,000.
The starting field of 160 players includes 26 who are rated over 2700, which organisers say makes it the strongest Swiss-system tournament in the history of chess.
