Castletown Ale Drinkers Society issues statement 'with a heavy heart'
In a statement, The Castletown Ale Drinkers Society says it's had to make the decision 'due to circumstances beyond our control'.
It says the decision wasn't taken lightly, with many vendors, local clubs and sponsors working alongside the organisation to make the event happen.
A date for the rescheduled championships hasn't been given, however CADS says it will be in September.
The annual event takes place in Castletown Middle Harbour and sees competitors attempt to race across the water in tin baths, whilst others take part in the 'snake race' and 'man-powered flight competition'.
This year's charity of choice is Cruse Bereavement Support Isle of Man.
Ladies and gentlemen, kids and pets, it’s with a heavy heart that we have to postpone this year's Tin Bath racing until later in the year. This is due to circumstances beyond our control. We’re so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, and we’ll be in touch with our competitors in due course.
As you know, it’s not only the CADS, but many vendors, local clubs and sponsors who make this event happen, so this decision wasn't made lightly. We trust you will all understand, and hope you'll join us in September instead. - Castletown Ale Drinkers Society.
A spokesperson told Manx Radio: 'Unfortunately Castletown Ale Drinkers Society (CADS) need to postpone the World Tin Baths Championships on Saturday 14 June to later this summer.
'There have been a number of logistical difficulties over the last few days and the safety of our participants and the public is paramount to the CADS.
'We are sorry this news will come as a shock; however, we will advise of the revised schedule in the near future.
'In the meantime we thank all our supporters and the public for your understanding and patience and we look forward to working with everyone later this summer.'
