Some of the world's top viola players are currently on the Island competing for a £7,000 prize.
The musicians are taking part in the Lionel Tertis International Viola Festival held at the Erin Arts Centre in Port Erin.
The winner will also gain a recital with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.
Director of the festival Dr John Bethell says a whole range of countries are being represented.
The festival is open for the public to watch and runs until Saturday at the Erin Arts Centre.
