Nominations for the vacant seat on the Legislative Council close this evening (Monday).
There was stalemate in the Keys last month when members tried for the second time to elect someone to fill the remaining empty chair.
Former fireman John Skinner dropped out after one round of voting and East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell missed out after four rounds.
Alan Crowe and George Waft were seeking re-election, having recently retired by rotation, but were unable to attract sufficient support.
Nominations must be in writing and have to be received by 5pm.
