Shoppers react to potential pop charge
Taxing fizzy drinks appears to have some public support in the Isle of Man.
The matter was raised in Tynwald yesterday.
Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson put forward a motion to see if members supported the principle of a levy on all products with a high sugar content.
An amendment changed 'products' to 'soft drinks'.
The UK will introduce such a levy in 2018, with the Isle of Man Treasury keen to link into that, making it part of the revenue sharing agreement.
