Would-be thieves need to think twice before targeting Tynwald Mills in the run up to Christmas.
The Western Neighbourhood Policing Team is tackling the issue of shoplifting, and will be patrolling the shopping complex.
Anyone who is caught stealing, or attempting to do so, is warned to expect the legal consequences.
There will be similar patrols in Peel.
Inspector Mark Britton says offences in the West of the Island usually affect small businesses rather than large, faceless corporations.
He says people who steal are taking the money out of the pockets of others and the police will do everything possible to prevent that happening.
