ESJCR praises Finlo who secured help for injured mother
A ‘young superstar’ who phoned 999 to get help for his injured mother has been presented with a certificate of achievement from those who answered his emergency call.
Finlo Bowman was invited to the Emergency Services Joint Control Room this week to collect it – it’s the first time the ESJCR has presented one.
Operators described him as ‘calm and polite’ on the call in June this year and said he listened to the questions they asked him and gave ‘really good answers’ so they could get the right help to the family.
As well as doing this Finlo also looked after his younger sister until help arrived.
Operator and dispatcher Jo Corran took the call and said: “We get used to callers who may panic on what could well be the very worst day of their life - it was refreshing to hear that one of our younger callers was actually one of the most efficient callers I have ever had the pleasure of taking a call from.”
Finlo also got to meet Mark from the Isle of Man Ambulance Service who was one of the medics who helped on the day.
