School may be out for the summer from tomorrow, but the grounds of the Island's 40 primary and secondary schools will remain open for recreational use.
That's the message from Education Minister Anne Craine who says the grounds and playing fields provide a safe place, away from roads, for children to play.
She says her department welcomes children playing in them rather than in areas where they may be in danger from traffic.
Mrs Craine says as long as children don't do anything to endanger their own or others' safety, there's no reason why school grounds shouldn't remain open for use.
