Committee seeks public views on education, training, and why so many young adults leave the Island
The Isle of Man’s Youth Select Committee has launched a new inquiry into the opportunities available to young people after leaving school or higher education.
The committee is made up of members aged between 15 and 24, and is aiming to understand why the Island continues to face challenges in retaining young adults.
It will examine government policies and initiatives to assess the effectiveness of current strategies, and is now calling for public submissions to help shape its findings.
Key areas of focus include the cost of pursuing education or training, the accessibility of alternatives to university, and what might make the Island a more appealing place for young people to live, work and study.
Scarlett Clague, Alex Cowley and Riona Zaman spoke to Amy Griffiths:
The deadline for submissions is Friday, 30 May 2025.
