A celebration of the 50 years of the Parish Walk took place last night.
1960 was the first edition of the event we know today.
The first finisher that year was Stanley Cleator.
Dressed in normal clothes and shoes, he was one of only four finishers at a weather hit race.
Despite the lack of modern day kit, Stanley says he did try and plan how fast he would need to go to finish inside 24 hours:-
The first signing-on for Saturday's Scottish Widows Parish Walk is on Thursday evening at Manx Harriers clubhouse at the National Sports Centre between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
