All three Manx sides got 2011 off to the best possible start with wins in their respective South Lancashire/Cheshire Leagues.
In Division One, Vagabonds beat Oswestry away 17-15.
Vagas trailed 8-5 at half-time with a Jake Coates try just keeping them in touch.
In the second half, Coates bagged his second, openside scavenger Ross Pullman snaffled another and Leigh Kennaugh kicked a single conversion to give Vagas a lead.
Oswestry missed a penalty right in front of goal with the last kick of the game which would have won it for them.
In Division Two, Douglas pulled off a shock result when they beat promotion challengers Oldershaw at Port-e-Chee.
The Manx side led 20-17 at half-time with first half scores coming from Conor McCaughan (two), Will Latta and Guy Wood.
In the second half they eked out a 27-23 lead when Wood bagged his second which he also converted.
Oldershaw then took a 30-27 lead with just three minutes to go before Latta dived over for the winner, which was converted by Mike Hebden.
At Mooragh Park, Ramsey also started off 2011 with a win, beating Moore 20-10.
Two Craig Long tries, plus a Fintan Cummins conversion, gave Ramsey a 12-3 half-time lead.
Lewis Hollington’s penalty just kept Moore in touch.
Tim Forber went over for the vistors early in the second half and, when Hollington added the conversion, the Ramsey lead was reduced to 12-10.
John Watling eased Ramsey worries with a neatly taken try and Cummins made the game safe with a late drop goal.
