Chief Minister Tony Brown says he has no doubt plans to limit election spending will be introduced within the next few years.
Moves to progress a bill, which also included stricter controls on political donations, failed to receive sufficient support last week, with some MHKs feeling the proposals were being rushed through, ahead of the general election in September.
Mr Brown, the member in charge of the bill, believes there will be support for the measures, in due course:
