'Review government spending', says candidate

The son of a retiring MHK says a comprehensive review of government spending is a priority should he be successful in September's general election.

Alf Cannan will contest the Michael seat his father David is vacating after nearly 29 years in office.

The 43-year-old businessman says he is very much his own man and feels, with local jobs and livelihoods at stake following the latest VAT bombshell, the impact of government services needs to be addressed (listen to audio file below):
