Island athlete in GB & NI team heading to Loughborough

Isle of Man athlete, Regan Corrin has been called up to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland this weekend.

The Island competitor has been selected for the Men's Under-20 national squad to take part in the Men's High Jump at the Loughborough International Meeting this coming Sunday (17 May).

Along with the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team, the meeting will also feature Under-20 teams put out by England, Scotland, Wales and Loughborough Students.

Corrin is currently the Manx record holder in both the men's long jump and high jump disciplines and set his records in both of those events back in Feburary this year.

During the England Athletics Indoor Championships in Sheffield on 7-8 February, he set a new long jump benchmark of 7.57 metres, beating his own previous record of 7.31 metres he managed last year.

Just a week later on Sunday, 15 February, he broke the long-standing Manx high jump record, clearing a height of 2.19 metres at the British Indoor Championships in Birmingham.

That result broke the previous high jump record of 2.18 metres set by Martin Aram back in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
