Georgia Price excels as Manx competitors attend Sheffield meeting
An Isle of Man athlete has set a new national record on her debut athletics meeting.
Georgia Price took the silver medal in the Under-20 women's triple jump contest on day one of the Northern Athletics Indoor Championships in Sheffield last Saturday (11 January).
In the process the Manx Harriers competitor set a new women's indoor triple jump record in the process of 11.33 metres.
It's nearly one whole metre clear of the previous best in the class which was 10.51 metres set by Aimee Cringle back in 2016.
Meanwhile, the overall outdoor record is still held by Cheryl Done at 10.89 metres from 1995.
Elsewhere on day one of the event in Sheffield, fellow Island athlete Meghan Pilley earned a podium finish in the women's 60m competition.
Pilley - also of Manx Harriers - recorded a new personal best of 7.73 seconds in her heat before managing a near-identical time of 7.74 seconds to secure the bronze medal in the final.
