Athletics: Leeming and Mylchreest impress in Manchester Half Marathon

Several Manx competitors part of race last Sunday (12 October)

Corrin Leeming and Emily Mylchreest were among impressive displays set by Island athletes at this year's Manchester Half Marathon.

No fewer than 11 Manx competitors took part in the race on Sunday, 12 October with Leeming the highest male and overall finisher from the Isle of Man in 13th in a time of one hour, five minutes and 18 seconds.

Meanwhile, Mylchreest shattered her previous best over the distance by nearly five minutes, clocking one hour, 22 minutes and 26 seconds to finish 50th in the women's race.

The second-fastest Manx time was set by Paul Sykes at one hour, 15 minutes and 59 seconds followed by Rory Dearden (one hour, 16 minutes and 23 seconds) at third-quickest.

Also among those who managed to complete the course in under 90 minutes were Nik Cain (one hour, 22 minutes and 44 seconds), Ryan Hampson (one hour, 23 minutes and eight seconds) and Andrew Falconer (one hour, 25 minutes and 47 seconds).

Elsewhere, just a few seconds separated Gaz Notman (one hour, 38 minutes and 47 seconds) and Callum Staley (one hour, 38 minutes and 54 seconds) with both Kevin Sloan (one hour, 40 minutes and 44 seconds) and Sarah Air (one hour, 49 minutes and 31 seconds) also successfully completing the challenge.
