Athletics: Legendary runner Brenda Walker has died

She remains the holder of several Manx road running records

Brenda Walker - one of the Isle of Man's most prominent female long distance athletes - has died at the age of 67.

During her competitive career she set a series of Manx records across a variety of road running and track events, some of which still stand to this day.

She remains the record holder for the women's 5-mile race with her time of 28 minutes 58 seconds in 1991 still the benchmark over that distance.

In the same year, she also set the Island Games women's half-marathon record, another achievement which hasn't been matched since.

Meanwhile, she also still retains the Isle of Man records for the women's marathon and women's 20-mile events both of which were set in 1993.
