Mullarkey finishes 18th at NCAA DI Championships
A Manx Commonwealth athlete who has impressed during the cross-country season in the United States continued his fine form at the weekend.
David Mullarkey, from Peel, recently finished 18th at the NCAA DI Championships which were held at Madison
Mullarkey made his name on the Isle of Man while attending QEII High School and the cross-country runner's best performance of the season came earlier in November at the Big Sky Conference Cross-Country Championships in Pocatello, Idaho, where he won the event.
The Manxman then attended Leeds University before setting off for the United States and two weeks ago he recorded a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Division I Mountain Region Cross-Country Championships in Reno, Nevada.
The athlete now represents Northern Arizona University and began the cross-country season earlier in Autumn as he crossed the line in eighth in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational meeting in Notre Dame, Indiana.
He then followed up that performance up with a 21st place finish at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals in Madison.
Mullarkey won gold in 2019 for the Isle of Man where he represented the nation at the island games in Gibraltar where he claimed victory in the 1500m.
