Manxman also sets new outdoor 5000m record in process
Isle of Man athlete David Mullarkey has once again impressed in the USA securing another win for Florida State University.
Competing at this year's edition of the Jordan Payton Invitational in California, Mullarkey claimed victory in the Men's 5000m event in a time of 13 minutes 28.43 seconds.
In a close-fought battle, the Manxman just edged out Wisconsin Runner Racing Team's Tai Dinger (13 minutes 28.90 seconds) and Bac Elite's Morgan Le Guen (13 minutes 29.69 seconds).
Furthermore, Mullarkey's time is a new Manx men's outdoor record over the distance, eclipsing his previous outdoor benchmark of 13 minutes 43.92 seconds set in 2022.
He went marginally faster at an indoor event in Boston in February this year of 13 minutes 28.23 seconds.
