However that was not the only piece of history to be made
Manx athlete Ollie Lockley set a new course record as he won the 2024 Peel to Douglas run for the sixth time yesterday.
Lockley beat his own course record which he set in 2020 by 32 seconds as he completed the 10.3 mile distance in 52:08 on a warm Sunday morning.
Elsewhere, Sarah Webster was the women's winner and set a new personal best as she completed the run in 1:03:03 to finish ninth overall, and over three minutes quicker than her previous best.
The run, which began in 1909, made more history this weekend as it was the first time ever that the top five finished in under an hour.
Another 75 competitors also finished the event, the highest since 2018.
