Records broken elsewhere during competition at the NSC
Jamie Newton and Sarah Webster secured the top spots during the latest 20 Mile Road Race held on Island at the weekend.
In the 40-lap contest at the NSC in Douglas on Sunday (3 March), Newton was victorious in the men's category in a time of two hours one minute and 18 seconds.
Taking second place minutes later was Matt Callister (two hours, five minutes and 24 seconds) who just pipped Paul Jennings in third (two hours, five minutes and 58 seconds).
Elsewhere, Webster's time of two hours, seven minutes and 27 seconds saw her take a commanding win in the women's contest followed by Dawn Atherton in second (two hours, 27 minutes and 18 seconds) with the final podium spot in third going to Joanne Schade (two hours, 27 minutes and 23 seconds).
What's more, Schade's time is a new record in the Ladies 55 category for the event whilst elsewhere Rosie Craine set a new Ladies 50 benchmark (two hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds).
There were also records broken in the men's race as Michael Loundes set a new best time for the Men's 70+ class of two hours, 39 minutes and seven seconds.
